'Man Utd target Tchouameni to sign new Real Madrid deal'

Manchester United target Aurelien Tchouameni will sign a new Real Madrid deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

the France international was high on Man Utd's list of midfield targets.

But Tchouameni looks set to commit his future to Real.

The 26-year-old will reportedly sign a new five-year deal at the Bernabeu. 

It is claimed a deal for Tchouameni to join Man Utd was never close due to his high salary and Real not wanting to let him go.

Former Brighton goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen is among the names on Ipswichs summer shortlist. 

The Dutchman, now at Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, is one of the options under consideration as the Tractor Boys look to bolster their goalkeeping options ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope is another. 

Scherpen, who is 6ft 8in, has had one previous spell at a Premier League club after joining Brighton from Ajax in 2021. 

While on Brightons books, Scherpen spent time out on loan at Oostende, Vitesse and Sturm Graz. 

He then moved permanently to Brighton's partner club Union Saint-Gilloise last summer. 

The 26-year-old kept an impressive 21 clean sheets in 43 appearances for the Belgian club last season.

Aberdeen sign left-back Guinness-Walker on free transfer

Aberdeen have signed left-back Nesta Guinness-Walker on a two-year contract.

The 26-year-old has moved to Pittodrie after his deal at Northampton Town expired.

Guinness-Walker a former Chelsea and Tottenham youth player - has also played for the likes of AFC Wimbledon, Reading and Stevenage.

He is Aberdeen boss Stephen Robinsons ninth summer signing.

The Dons kick off their Scottish Premiership campaign at home to Hearts on August 1, live on Your Site.

Ex-Barca defender Marquez becomes new Mexico boss

Former Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez has been promoted from assistant to take over from Javier Aguirre as Mexico national team boss.

Aguirre stepped down after the co-hosts were knocked out by England in the last 16 of the World Cup.

Marquez, who has been on the coaching staff since 2024, has been tasked with leading the team in the next four-year cycle leading into the 2030 World Cup.

The Mexican Football Federation announced the changes in a series of posts on X, saying of the 47-year-old Marquez, the countrys fourth-highest capped player: A historic legacy in the World Cup and ready to keep writing his story. Rafa Marquez, our leader on the field and now from the bench.

On Aguirre, it said: Our recognition for you, Javier. Thank you. Javier Aguirres legacy will remain forever in our history.

Ex-Man City goalkeeper Caballero returns to club as part of Maresca's backroom team

Ex-Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero has returned to the club as part of new boss Enzo Maresca's backroom staff.

The Argentine spent three years at Man City from 2014, during which he won the 2016 League Cup.

Caballero played under Pep Guardiola, whom Maresca replaced as manager last month.

Caballero was part of Maresca's backroom teams at Leicester and Chelsea and is once again part of his staff at the Etihad Stadium as a first-team coach.

The 44-year-old joins assistant manager Roberto Vitiello, first-team coach Danny Walker, head of goalkeeping Michele De Bernardin, fitness coach Marcos Alvarez, first-team coach Denis Silva and analyst Javier Molina on Marescas City staff.

City also confirmed set-piece coach James French and goalkeeping coach Richard Wright will continue in the roles they held during the 2025/26 season.

Palace close to signing defender Mingueza on free transfer

Crystal Palace are close to signing free-agent defender Oscar Mingueza.

Your Site News understands Mingueza, whose Celta Vigo contract has expired, underwent his medical ahead of a move to Selhurst Park on Wednesday.

The defender is expected to sign a four-year deal with Palace.

Palace view Mingueza as primarily a right-sided full-back.

The 27-year-old's impending arrival is not thought to have any bearing on Maxence Lacroixs future amid interest from Chelsea

Derry signs new Chelsea deal ahead of Sporting move

Jesse Derry has signed a new six-year deal at Chelsea.

The 19-year-old arrived from Crystal Palace on a four-year contract last summer but has now agreed fresh terms until 2032.

Derry - the son of former Palace and Leeds midfielder Shaun Derry - made his senior Chelsea debut in February and his first Premier League start in May.

The winger is due to arrive in Lisbon on Thursday to complete a medical before joining Sporting on a season-long loan.

Derry said: "Just having that little snippet of playing for the first team last season, I couldn't have thought of anywhere else I'd want to be for my future. It was a no-brainer."

Spurs thank Palhinha with midfielder not returning to club

Tottenham have thanked Joao Palhinha, with the midfielder not returning to the club following the end of his loan spell.

Spurs have signed midfielders Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali this summer for a combined 185m.

Last week, Palhinha confirmed his Spurs exit having joined on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich, where he has returned with a potential move back to Sporting in the offing.

Five days on from the Portugal international's exit confirmation, Spurs posted a message thanking him for his efforts after he helped save Spurs from relegation, including a final-day winning goal over Everton.

Spurs said: "Stepping up when we needed him most and giving everything for the club. 

"You'll always be part of our family, Joao."
